1 Month - So Good!

A review video taken on the Acer Aspire 5738-6969's built-in webcam. It's pretty good quality.

I've had the computer for about a month now since this video was taken and it is still running great. I really like it!

A couple more notes:

The widescreen format is nice for movies (what I wanted) but the keyboard is thus not centered relative to the screen.

Snappy processing and memory.

Acer makes great-quality products.

Acer Backup Manager doesn't work so well. But Window's 7 Backup Manager works pretty well as a replacement.

Great sound.

Great price.

I bought the laptop for my wife. She is an instructor at a community college and uses the laptop constantly for work. She is thoroughly happy with it. It is fast, easy to use. She became an expert on it in a very short time. One con is the battery does not last to long. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a laptop.

Amazon also delivered this computer in two days.
Amazing features for the price

I've had this computer for a couple of days now and it's great. I recently bought an Acer Revo 3600 and liked it so much, when my laptop died I decided to check out their other products. I bought it when it was $599 and couldn't find anything close to its specs (which I think speak for themselves) at that price point. It worked right out of the box...no hassles whatsoever. It's very fast, but then again I've been using a 4 year old Dell, and I really like Windows 7. I would have given it 5 stars except for a couple of things that I find a bit annoying, but these are personal preferences. The big thing is that because it has a numeric keypad, the keyboard is shifted awkwardly to the left. The first 2 days I had it, I kept hitting all the wrong buttons, but I'm starting to get used to it. Another is that the right and left click mouse buttons on the touchpad have been combined into a single bar (click on right side for right click, left side for left click). It feels a bit stiff/hard to depress and, because of the aforementioned awkward shift, I frequently hit it too close to the middle which doesn't accomplish anything. Also, the cover is very shiny and shows every fingerprint, but it's hard to find a laptop today that doesn't have this feature. Overall, it's a great laptop.
Excellent value, Easy setup, wonderful ergonomics

I bought this 3 weeks ago when the price was only $599. It's a steal at that price. It came well packaged, no damages and the setup was so easy. One little annoying thing was the pre-loaded anti-virus software which seemed to always want you to register. This laptop is recommended for those who like a good sized screen. I am not one to suffer with those little netbooks (except for travelling). But for prolonged, serious use, this is a really good sized, crisp display. My old laptop had a crammed keyboard and it always gave me tired fingers. This unit has a full keyboard with a real numeric keypad. I appreciate the spaces between the keys, the feel of the keys are also very good. I thought I would not get used to the touchpad slightly geared more to the left but I was wrong. It took a few days to get used to it and I didn't miss my mouse (though I still prefer the mouse). The processor is a good speed for the resource intensive MS Office 2007. Internet setup was a breeze too. Overall, this is a really good unit though if you plan to travel a lot with it, it is not the lightest unit around.
